Cost and Quality Management Plan-Free-Samples -Myassignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Cost and Quality Management Plan. Answer: Introduction Cost and quality management plan is a very important factor when it comes designing a project management plan. The purpose of the quality in the project is to describe how quality will be managed across the lifecycle of the project. On the other hand, cost management plan is to describe how the cost of a project will be managed through the process. For example, the manufacturing of 10,000 rubber components at Rubber components production will require quality and cost management plan. This medium is very much essential for the organization to understand the scope of what they want to invest in and perhaps make some profit (Al-Zwainy, F.M.S., and Neran, page 42). Measuring Project Costs This section entails aims at the explanation of cost for a project management plan can be determined. The analysis of the PMBOK is concerned with cost determination and control which can be estimated through the calculation of the schedule variance. The earned value which is the actual value and its difference from the planned value provides the schedule difference (Alvarez, Turner, R. and Mittra, page 60). Ideally, when the difference is negative then it implies the organization is taking a wrong turn and when we have a positive figure on the difference, it means that the company is on the right path. Therefore, the project enactment can be known using the earned value management with the four matrixes that are used in the cost planning project. The company and the owner of the tender are expected to state the real product worthiness and this help in knowing and the determination of the exact product cost. The raw material purchases per month in the company are 1000 units for the production process. On the other hand, the vendors will be guaranteeing a fixed cost of $200 per raw material units during the first 12 months of the project only. Material escalation factors are expected at month 13 due to renegotiation of the United Rubber Workers contracts. The cost measuring index Performance measure Blue Red Schedule performance index Less or more than 1 Less 0.9 or more than 1.1 Cost performance index Less or more than 1 Less 0.9 or more than 1.1 The cost baseline PMBOK explains the cost base line as set base cost limit that is considered as the control factor in measuring, controlling and also the monitoring process for the whole project performance. However, there exist a variety of factors that have an effect on a project cost performance and thus during the planning process, the estimated cost figures may perhaps not be accurate based on the factors in the working environment and the emerging trends (Reich and Wee, page 11). For example, if at a particular phase the training, materials and traveling costs were estimated and the then during the execution of the plan, the costs of the materials changes and this increases or decreases the cost of the performance. Therefore, time is another factor that can affect the cost of performance of a product due to the unstable costs of the raw materials that are very much essential in the determination of the final product and hence the final costs. The tools and techniques used in the cost management plan These are the techniques that are very essential and are used in the determination of the cost of a project during the cycle period. The management plan assists in a setting that is then measured, reported and controlled. The techniques of cost management plan are the earned value management which is an essential tool in the determination of the cost of the project. Additionally, in the capturing of the earned value management various tools and techniques such as the project management software which will assist in the capturing, recording and then forecasting the projects. Additionally, there are various measurement tools that can be used in the determination of the earned value management and this includes; The schedule variance (SV) The schedule variance determination is based on the project performance. The SV calculation is done the determination of the differences between the real value which in this case is the already earned value and the budgeted value. The planned value is the amounts we were supposed to get at the end of the project and its always under speculation. Therefore, the difference marks the success of the business or perhaps will determine whether the project is valid. Ideally, the plans should be able to be positive in comparison to the actual plan of the Rubber component production. The cost variance The value is measured based on the budget performance for the project. This is calculated by subtracting the actual costs (AC) which are the actual cost incurred to the very date from the earned value (EV). Therefore, this will be determined by taking into consideration the present cost that the company has used in the production of Rubber and getting the difference from the earned value. The perfect project is signified when the CV value is zero, but when the value of cv goes more than zero and also you find that you also notice the value is accumulating more cost than was planned this is termed as under budgeting. Over budgeting, on the other hand, comes in when the project CV is less than zero. The schedule performance index It is the measure of that which has been achieved against the one that was planned for the project. The value is calculated by EV/PV and the value is one if both the EV and PV are equal. If the value is less than one, then the project started is behind the schedule and on the other hand, if the value is greater than one, then the project is ahead of the stated schedule. A perfect project should be that one that is slightly under or above the value one in the project (Diniz and Fabbe-Costes, page 240). The cost performance index This is the calculation comparison into the work value completed In reference to the real value in terms of the work that is already done. EV/AC calculation measures the cost performance cost. A project that equals to one is termed as an on budget project. On the other hand, if its less than one, its termed as over budget project. In addition to that, and under the budget project is one that total cost is more than one. The quality management plan for the project These are the processes and the activities of the organization that is performing that assist in the determination of the quality policies, expected objectives and the responsibility to make sure that the project satisfies the needs in consideration to the purposes. The purpose of the project is making sure that there is the production of 10,000 rubber components that are of good quality according to the standard of requirements (Polak and Wjcik, page 8). The management works to make sure that the requirements according to the state's policies are met and achieved in good terms. The Quality Management Plan (QMP) for the 10,000 Rubber component project will establish the activities, processes, and procedures for ensuring a quality product upon the conclusion of the project. The purpose of this plan is to: Define acceptable quality standards of the produced rubber products. Define quality assurance activities in the line of production. Ensure quality is planned according to the requirement. Define how quality will be managed in the production cycle. Purpose and Objectives The purpose of the 10,000 Rubber component production Quality Management Plan is to establish the plans, processes, and responsibilities required to implement effective quality management functions for the project mentioned above. This QMP defines how the Project Team will implement, support, and communicate project quality practices for utilization in the overall production process (Morris and Jamieson, page 5). Identify the quality matrix The quality planning team identifies the matrix the quality assurance team will use in the processes (Rodrigues and Sbragia, page 44). Therefore, the senior management of the project in collaboration with the process owner will identify and develop the right metrics that are applicable to the entire project. Creation of quality checklist The plan will assist in the identification of the quality checking list that will be used by the team in the production cycle of the Rubber component in the industry. This will be done by the senior managers in support by the process owner (Besner and Hobbs, page 20). Problem remediation The project will have various meetings with teams and the top leadership in the determination of the problems and the possible solution to the issues. The identified projects will then be solved to prevent further issues that might arise in the process of production that might affect the quality of the product. The matrix below describes the quality assurance standards for the Rubber component project: Project Process Quality Assurance Standard Inputs Include Project Schedule Management Project schedule review meetings occur Project schedule review meetings well attended Modifications to the project schedule accepted and tracked Impact estimations taking place outside of/prior to the schedule improvement process Roles and responsibilities are well defined Action items from review meetings are documented and tracked to completion Schedule Management Plan Project Schedule Standards References Al-Zwainy, F.M.S. and Neran, T.H., 2015. The Need For Honesty Essays - Virtue, Chinese Philosophy

The Need For Honesty The Need for People Honesty. Everyones heard the tale of the Boy who cried Wolf right? Sure, shepherd boy thinks he's funny, makes a fuss about imaginary wolfs, villagers come running - no wolf. Then when wolfs actually do come, he yells and screams, yet villagers weren't about to play his game again, his sheep get nailed by the wolves. Moral of the story. Liars are not believed even when they tell the truth The reasons people are less than truthful are many, they do it because they lack the courage to say what they think, they do it because they are comfortable in their pretensions, and they do it because they are insecure. I spent a long time asking myself why should people be straight up, what moral chains are there? It's to easy to say because society expects it, or because history has presented its heroes as paragons of virtue. No, I believe the reason to be much more selfish, the need for people to be straight-up is that individually you become better people for it. But why? Why would you be a better person for speaking the truth? If you leave behind all the morality, all the chains of ethics, all the issues of virtue. What is it? If truth was an object or feeling how would you describe it? Is it a goal to strive for? A gut feeling? An instinct to pass on your interpretation of events without deviation? Who knows exactly? All I know is that I hold it high, and I refuse to abnegate this belief for anyone, better yet I expect people to follow suit. Never am I more disconcerted than if someone I trust has lied to me, to my face, how dare they? Why do we feel this way? because we just do?...Neh.. To easy, because society demands that we do? No, I don't feel bad if someones lied to me because society says they shouldn't. No, I feel bad because I've been betrayed. I trusted them to be like me and they weren't. I trusted them to hold the same set of beliefs that I do, and they didn't. Yet the only way I can expect that of them is if I have a sure fire justification that my way is right...but I don't so where am I? Who knows? Is honesty some common unspoken societal belief? Or spawned of some religious base? Or are people only honest because they fear retribution? Are they better people for speaking it out of fear, and not obligation? These questions have been asked for centuries, the dude who told The Boy Who Cried Wolf was born in the 6thCentury Before Christ. He was a slave to Egyptian King Cleombrotus, his name was Aesop. The questions have been answered using words like nobility, integrity, and virtue. Yet none of them fit, none of them completely explain why people owe it to each other to be honest. This is because they don't owe anything to each other, they owe it to themselves. People that lie go against the grain, they are frowned upon and rightly so. Deep inside everyone knows that if they lie its wrong, a little fib here, embellishment there, whats the harm? I'll tell you what the harm is, its a *censored* load of grey in my life that I don't really need. Philosophy Essays

The Role of the Congress in U.S. Foreign Policy

The Role of the Congress in U.S. Foreign Policy As with virtually all U.S. government policy decisions, the executive branch, including the president, and Congress share responsibility in what ideally is a collaboration on foreign policy issues. Congress controls the purse strings, so it has significant influence over all kinds of federal issues including foreign policy. Most important is the oversight role played by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. The House and Senate Committees The Senate Foreign Relations Committee has a special role to play because the Senate must approve all treaties and nominations to key foreign policy postings and make decisions about legislation in the foreign policy arena. An example is the usually intense questioning of a nominee to be secretary of state by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Members of that committee have a great deal of influence over how U.S. foreign policy is conducted and who represents the United States around the world. The House Committee on Foreign Affairs has less authority, but it still plays an important role in passing the foreign affairs budget and in investigating how that money is used. Senate and House members often travel abroad on fact-finding missions to places deemed vital to U.S. national interests. War Powers Certainly, the most important authority given to Congress overall is the power to declare war and to raise and support the armed forces. The authority is granted in Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11 of the U.S. Constitution. But this congressional power as granted by the Constitution has always been a flashpoint of tension between the Congress and the presidents constitutional role as commander-in-chief of the armed forces. It came to a boiling point in 1973, in the wake of the unrest and divisiveness caused by the Vietnam War, when Congress passed the controversial War Powers Act over the veto of President Richard Nixon to address situations where sending U.S. troops abroad could result in involving them in armed action and how the president could carry out military  action while still keeping Congress in the loop. Since the passage of the War Powers Act, presidents have viewed it as an unconstitutional infringement on their executive powers, reports the Law Library of Congress, and it has remained surrounded by controversy. Lobbying Congress, more than any other part of the federal government, is the place where special interests seek to have their issues addressed. And this creates a large lobbying and policy-crafting industry, much of which is focused on foreign affairs. Americans concerned about Cuba, agricultural imports, human rights, global climate change, immigration, among many other issues, seek out members of the House and Senate to influence legislation and budget decisions.

Needs Assessment of Go Live Systems Inc Assignment

Needs Assessment of Go Live Systems Inc - Assignment Example This gap can be identified as the training needs of the employees. This needs assessment is to be followed by development, delivery and evaluation of training. The Company has plans for a large growth in the next six months period. With the business acumen and expertise in the field the company has developed a software application and has patented it. This application is expected to improve upon the usability and compatibility of the two large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. With this background Go Live Systems Inc is forming a partnership with two other large companies for making sales and license renewal calls together. The company is looking for at least 10 consultant/programmers who will work hand in hand with the ERP vendors and clients for the assessment and determination of clients' needs suitably modify the application and also provide on site training to the clients as to the usage of the application and the enhancements if any to the application. The recruiting agency should select candidates and present lists of candidates who meet the above basic criteria for consideration. Since it is found that it will be difficult to get candidates who possess the required level of technical and interpersonal skill sets instantly, the agency may be asked to present another list of candidates who do not meet the basic criteria in respect of the technical skills but are otherwise found to be of good material offering scope for getting trained. In those cases, in respect of each candidate a chart may be prepared indicating the level of skill and technical knowledge required and possessed by the prospective candidates, to assess the training needs. Social & Ethical Issues Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Social & Ethical Issues - Essay Example Kant formulated the categorical imperative as a foundation for ethical action. Two aspects of the categorical imperative are that a person should act such that he1 can also will that the maxim of his action should become a universal law, and he should act such that he treats humanity-both in own and another's person-as an end and never as a means. Kant's theory thus defines ethics on the nature of actions, and not on their outcome (Kay, 1997) The morality of an action depends on intention only. A moral action may cause distress rather than happiness to the one who acts. But morality is more important than happiness. Moral action will ultimately lead to peace of mind (happiness) at having done the right thing. The motive for a moral action should not be the fact that it could lead to happiness, but that the action is moral in itself. Kant maintains that this principle does not recognize any exceptions. Utilitarianism states that the ethicality of an action depends solely on whether it increases utility or not. Therefore the morality of an action depends on its outcome, and on nothing else. Utility is happiness or pleasure, and suffering is disutility. How do these conflicting dicta help us in deciding ethical courses of action, in today's confusing times Let us look at euthanasia. The word euthanasia means "a happy death" and refers to legally sanctioned death. Although some countries have legalized euthanasia (E g Netherlands), there are several ethical issues that arise in its application. First of all, there is the very definition of death. Now that life can be prolonged by sophisticated machines, it gets difficult to decide whether the life that is kept artificially going has really gone beyond a point, where it cannot be brought out of its vegetative state. There have been cases when machines have been switched off, and bodies that were expected to cease, continued in a coma. With the rapid pace at which medical science has been progressing, conditions which were considered untreatable yesterday, can be dealt with today. Therefore, should we not wait before euthanasia is carried out in any instance, as tomorrow may bring a cure Can it be done even if a person while in a healthy state of body and mind has willed that he should be administered euthanasia in case he slips into an irretrievable state of death Is suicide okay Should doctors assist in suicide Then how about unborn children Is abortion permissible Do we have the right to decide on the ending of any life-that of an unborn child, as well The questions are numerous. But evidently there are no clear-cut answers to these. Mill talks about competing utilities. He says that all we need to do is to compute the utility that would be generated by opposing course of actions, and choose that set of actions that generates a higher utility. This is easier said than done. How does one compute utility What is the objective standard to measure this Since utility is based on feelings, how does one measure the strength of feelings If maximizing utility were the only concern, we would be led to bizarre and dangerous conclusions on ethical issues. If morality consisted merely in promoting the greatest happiness of the greatest numbers, then the majority rules, and the minority suffers. Let's look at the
